11 Things This Week [The Bookish Edition]

11 Weekly Links

Here’s a look at some interesting things we read/ saw / thought / did last week – bookishness, blogging tips and life sh*t.

ONE. Now that Thanksgiving holidays are over in the US, I can openly celebrate my love of all things Christmas. I’m born in December (14), and I am an obnoxious Christmas celebrator. Music. Food. Good cheer out the ass!

TWO. Best Books of the Year Lists!  ‘Tis the Season and I love it! The 100 notable books of 2017 list from the New York Times is out as is Barnes and Noble’s list of The Best Fiction of 2017. Plus Audible’s Best Audiobooks of 2017 and Book Riot’s 2017 Oscars for Books.

THREE. But my absolute favorite “Best of the Year in Books” list is the NPR Book Concierge: A Guide to 2017’s Greatest Reads.

FOUR. Plus check out Announcing the Winners of the 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards AND Goodreaders’ Favorite 2017 Under-the-Radar Books.

FIVE. The Morning News Tournament of Books the long list is out for 2017. It’s time to get reading!

SIX. Amazon reveals the 10 Most Popular Kindle books in it’s 10 years of existence. Some surprises – Fifty Shades after the first book – and some I’m not so surprised at – The Hunger Games trilogy … and no authors of color.

SEVEN. What fo you think of these as The Best Book Covers of 2017 and this one too.

EIGHT: Let’s not forget audiobooks. Here are LibraryReads on Audio Favorites 2017.

NINE. I’m a huge fan of Tim Ferriss, so it was interesting seeing his list of The Top 10 Most Popular Blog Posts. and he also broke down the Recommended Books from Mentors and Top Books from Tools of Titans.

TEN. A little harsh, but true – No One is Forcing You to Blog, Stop Whining.

ELEVEN. What do you think are the most overated books this year? And which books do you think deserved the hype? Check out the link up for other readers picks.

Currently Reading

I’m almost finished with The Stone Sky (The Broken Earth #3) , N.K. Jemisin which sadly, I’m not loving as much as the first 2 books in the series. But I’ve got 3 books I want to finish before the end of the year.

  • a book for the December Monthly Motif – a book by my favorite author, which I’ve chosen Strange Weather, Joe Hill.
  • For the A to Z Reading Challenge – Location Edition, I only have 2 letters left – “X” and “Z”.
    • For “X” – either Rebel of the Sands, Alwyn Hamilton (set in Xicha) or On Such a Full Sea, Chang Rae-Lee (set in XiXi City, New China).
    • For “Z” – either All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr (set in Zollverein) or The Luminaries, Eleanor Canton (set in New Zealand).

Have you read any of these books? Which one would you recommend?
