3 Popular Books Worth the Hype #AMonthofFaves

How do you choose which books to read? Many times, I’ll pick up a book because of the hype – or the buzz – on blogs or in the media. Here are 3 books that I thought totally worthy of the hype.

Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3), Laini Taylor

The hype was huge for the first book in this series (Daughter of Smoke & Bone), which I also LOVED and told EVERYBODY that they should read. The hype didn’t die down for books 2 (Days of Blood & Starlight)  – loved it hard too – and 3 (Dreams of Gods & Monsters), which I read earlier this year. It was a beautiful finish to a really well written series which left . The audiobooks were a pleasure to listen to, and I thought experiencing the books this way really enhanced the experience.

The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins

This was another audiobook experience that was phenomenal – although in this case, I don’t think it better than reading the physical book. Though the main character isn’t always likable – oh my gosh isn’t she’s just a bit of a sad sap! – but the mystery was delightful to follow and unravel. It made my list of 3 Books Where The Suspense Almost Killed Me.

Uprooted, Naomi Novik

Uprooted was named once of the Best Books of 2015 by both Publisher’s Weekly and Amazon, and I couldn’t agree more. This book will hook you from the first chapter and never let you go. It had me itching to read it every minute of the day!

  1. My book club read Uprooted last month and I have to agree, it’s well worth all the hype! I don’t know that I’ll pick up Taylor’s series any time soon, since I’ve been more in the mood for stand-alones, but I do want to get to The Girl on the Train. I have been hesitant because of all the hype, so I’m glad to hear it worked out for you 🙂

  2. My last hyped books were the Throne of Glass series, which I loved. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to hit.

I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone too, great to hear the second and third books are excellent too.

I loved Gone Girl. Have yet to read these three you share. (But I did read Daughter of Smoke and Bone #1!) Am adding Uprooted to my tbr right now.

@Care I hope you get a chance to read Uprooted. Such am awesome book.

  4. I also almost added The Girl on the Train, but tried to limit myself to 5, so I ended up choosing another one. About 10 would have fit the bill, so it was hard to go down to 5

  5. I need to check on Uprooted, too… not familiar with that one. The last hyped book I read and loved was Between the World and Me.

  6. I’ve never heard of uprooted – need to check that one out!

  7. Tanya, I completely agree with you on The Girl on the Train; I can’t imagine listening to it on audiobook because the suspense was bad enough via Kindle – ha! I’m going to have to take a look at Uprooted; your description has me very intrigued and I love being hooked. Thanks so much for sharing these and for hosting this great event!
