An Award Winning Reading List

This month’s Montly Motif is Award Winners. When we sat down to put together some recommendations for you, I realized I hadn’t really read any award winners last year. How did that happen!? I decided right then that I needed to put together an award winning reading list for myself. Here are three award winners I’m planning to get to by the end of the year. Have you read any of them?

Salt to the Sea, Ruta Sepetys
(Goodreads Choice YA Fiction 2016)

It’s been a long time since I read anything with a historical background, so I’m really looking forward to this.

Winter, 1945. Four teenagers. Four secrets. Each one born of a different homeland; each one hunted, and haunted, by tragedy, lies…and war. As thousands of desperate refugees flock to the coast in the midst of a Soviet advance, four paths converge, vying for passage aboard the Wilhelm Gustloff, a ship that promises safety and freedom. Yet not all promises can be kept.

Nice Dragons Finish Last, Rachel Aaron
(Audie Award Fantasy 2016)

I’ve been looking for some new-to-me narrators to add to my list of favorites. We’ll see if Vikas Adam is a good fit.

Sealed in human form and banished to the DFZ–a vertical metropolis built on the ruins of Old Detroit–Julius has one month to prove that he can be a ruthless dragon or kiss his true shape goodbye forever.

Lair of Dreams, Libba Bray
(Audie Award Young Adult 2016)

Adding this because I liked the first in the series and want to continue. Plus, audio books are working for me right now.

After a supernatural showdown with a serial killer, Evie O’Neill has outed herself as a Diviner. Piano-playing Henry DuBois and Chinatown resident Ling Chan are two Diviners struggling to keep their powers a secret—for they can walk in dreams. And while Evie is living the high life, victims of a mysterious sleeping sickness are turning up across New York City.

Which book should I get to first?
