{Bloggers Recommend} Book Series That Will Rock Your Socks Off

K and Lisa @ Baffled Books
The MaddAdam Trilogy, Margaret Atwood {Goodreads reviews}. A book series we HIGHLY recommend. Ok, well K recommends. I (Lisa) have been completely convinced of it's awesome even though I haven't read it yet because, seriously, Margaret Atwood is like magic. So far only the first two books have been released (Oryx and Crake; and The Year of the Flood) but the third is in the works. There is nothing specific that makes these books so good, it's everything.

The O'Malley Series by Dee Henderson. The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, and The Rescuer {Goodreads reviews}.Seven orphans adopt each other to become the O'Malley family. Each book follows a specific member of the family. While a lot of Christian novels can be campy, I love this series because the characters have realistic issues that keep them from believing, even when their loved ones do. I also appreciate how varied the love stories are - some of the characters fall for people they have just met in these books, while others have missed people who have been in their lives for years. The O'Malleys feel like my family and they are a beloved re-read on my bookshelf.

I tell EVERYONE to read the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, starting with Halfway To The Grave - book 1 {Goodreads reviews}. If you're familiar with Sookie Stackhouse and Buffy ... well, imagine if Angel, Spike, Riley, Eric, Bill, Alcide and Quinn we're all rolled into one big amazing man-ball, and were hotter than the fire of a thousand blazing suns. Yeah. Well. Bones is STILL HOTTER THAN THAT. I kid you not. And if you like a non-instalove romance, urban fantasy, kick-ass heroines and blood-sucking bad guys you need to read this. NOW. I kid you not. Stop what you're doing, turn of the computer; put your kids to bed; put your homework in the trash. Whatevs. Just get to this book ASAP. And I'm telling you now to make sure you have book 2 (One Foot In The Grave) lined up and ready to go as well. You've been warned.

The Passage by Justin Cronin {Review} is post-apocalyptic, sci fi, thriller, and literary fiction about people and their relationships, all rolled into one. Its style and tone reminded me a bit of Stephen King's The Stand, which is high praise! Book 2 (The Twelve) is coming out in 2012 and Book 3 in 2014.
Tanya @ Girlxoxo.com (Me)
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead {Review}. Every book in this series (there are 6 of them), gets better and better. There's action, a little romance, a lot of intrigue, action, a fast-paced plot, action ... oh, did I mention that already ... vampires and more vampires. Love, love, love this series - and highly recommend - oh, and it's best to start with the 1st book.

Have you read any of these books? Do you have any recommendations that you would add to this list?

You may have to collect commission on the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, you totally sold it to me :) I may have to check out the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead too, although I have been meaning to for a while. I love series but my faces have so let me down lately: TVD and True Blood. But I love the continuity of knowing when the book ends, there's still more to come from characters I've invested time and emotion in. :)

Great recommendations, Tanya! Thanks so much for including mine in this illustrious crowd! I'm not normally much of a series reader, but I am dying to read the Margaret Atwood books (to be honest, I've never read any Atwood novel, I'm embarrassed to admit!) I need to get busy!
