Weekly Books Chat {Recommendations}
For TGIF Reads
Q. Recommend It: Which book from the last 10 you've read would you recommend to a friend?
A. I've had some really excellent reads lately.
Imaginary Girls, Nova Ren Suma - Ooh ... this book is a good one. It's really a story about obsession on many levels - but especially siblings obsessed with each other, and how that can go very, VERY wrong (see Weekly Reading at The Monster's Corner with Imaginary Girls).
Zone One, Colson Whitehead - This book is dark and not even really about the zombies (I mean there's plenty of them running around, but there is a deeper meaning). It's about surviving once the World as you know it has been taken away from you. Do you try to rebuild & live like the "old days" or do you adapt and change - even to a World that's not to your liking? (see Weekly Reading in Zone One).
The Scorpio Races, Maggie Stiefvater - I loved these characters so much. I was trying not to rush through the ending because I wanted to make sure to read every detail, but at the same time, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next (see Weekly Reading at The Scorpio Races with Mara Dyer).
Anna Dressed in Blood, Kendare Blake - discussion coming up on Monday - but in just one word: Intense!
- 10 MOST ANTICIPATED 2012 Movie Adaptations - Snow White and The Huntsman looks especially good!
- Random Thoughts: On Being a Slow Reader - I'm one too - what's a blogger to do. Plan, plan, plan I say.
- On Chunksters, Or My Literary Nemeses - those big 500+ page books can be a challenge if you blog about books!
- The nominees for the 2012 Edgar Awards, presented to outstanding works in the mystery genre, were announced on January 19. Categories include Best Novel, Best First Novel, Young Adult, TV Show Episode and Best Short Story (2 nominees came from the short story collection, Down These Strange Streets). To see more categories and the nominees, go to The Edgars website. Winners will be announced on April 26, 2012.
What's the last book you read and loved?

Loved Imaginary Girls and Anna! I rec Anna to anyone and everyone who's down for a good ghost story. :) Haven't read Scorpio Races yet, but it's sitting on my shelf. Hoping to get to it soon.
