Favorite Audiobook (L)istening Accessories #SummerAtoZ

We’re huge fans of Audiobooks at GXO and have probably logged hundreds of listening hours. Here are some of the accessories and services we use to make this hobby affordable and enjoyable.

Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones

Girlxoxo Recommends: JBL Everest 700

+ Tanya – I prefer to use big over-the-ear headphones when I’m by myself, in a noisy environment or on a plane. Active noise canceling is the BEST. I’ve used the JBL Everest Elite 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones ($185.24 @ Amazon) since early 2017 and they were awesome … but they broke early this year. I then bought the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC ($175 @ Amazon) and these bad boys have taken things to another level with the noise canceling! They are super comfortable too, and also come with a headphone jack in case your bluetooth runs out of juice.

Anker Bluetooth Magnetic Soundbuds

Contigo Mug and Anker Wireless Earbuds

+ Kim – These Anker Soundbuds ($19.99 @ Amazon) were a gift from my husband who has been using (and loving) bluetooth earbuds for years now. My baby constantly yanked my earbuds out of my ears by accidentally getting tangled in the cord so I was stoked to move to wireless. I love the magnetic feature on these earbuds- they turn off when you ‘clip’ them together. I can listen for two days straight before I have to charge them. The cord stays hidden behind my neck so it’s not as big of a problem with kids hanging on me all the time. Plus, they’re cheap enough that if the kids do destroy them it won’t kill me to replace them.

Audible Membership

Both of us have Audible memberships on and off throughout the year. It can be a splurge at $14.95 / mth for 1 Credit, but there are times when it’s worth it. Save up credits for a few months and get new releases. And watch for their deals which includes free audiobooks!  Try Audible and Get Two Free Audiobooks. The Audible App also makes it super handy to just listen straight from your phone.

Library Membership & Overdrive App

Don’t take your library for granted! There are so many resources available to use FREE because of libraries – not the least of which is the ability to digitally borrow audiobooks using Overdrive … that automatically get returned – so NO OVERDUE FINES … EVER! Oh the feeling when that library hold comes through and that long anticipated read is finally here!!

Audiobook Listening on Overdrive

+ Tanya – I’m a member of the Chicago Public Library and on my Overdrive I’m currently listening to Down the River Under the Sea, Walter Mosley. which I’m LOVING so far. This is my first go round with Mosley as I’ve never been sure quite which book to start with. I’m glad it’s this one.

  1. I love audiobooks and always have one available to cue up in the car. I listen to one as I walk and as I ride a stationary bike at the gym but I hate headphones so I try to get away from using them if I can. What are some of your favorite audiobooks?

We have soooo many favorites – so I’ll recommend an oldie but goodie – The Help, Kathryn Stockett – the audiobook, the (physical) book and the movie – all excellent!!!!
