Monthly Motif July Highlights {LOL}

July HighlightsJuly’s theme was LOL. A fun interlude in the middle of our challenge, I think. I hope you all found something that helped you let loose a bit and enjoy a laugh. After all, life is supposed to be enjoyed and summer is supposed to be enjoyed even more!

Kim – I read Amy Poehler’s Yes, Please. This book was a bit all over the place and obviously not written by someone who writes for a living but it didn’t really matter too much. It definitely made me LOL in sections. I loved that “Yes, Please” was a reoccurring theme throughout the book and I really enjoyed Poehler’s insider stories about SNL as well as the tidbits she shared about her personal life. This was a fun audiobook too because Amy had guests jump in every now and again. Overall, I enjoyed it.yes pleasebook

I’ll be honest, I read this for the challenge because it’s not something I would normally pick up. I guess I’m just not that in to funny books. I like my books to be gritty, suspenseful, scary, and fast paced. So this month I found myself out of my comfort zone. It wasn’t a bad experience, but let’s just say I’m super pumped for September’s theme- Steampunk, Science Fiction, and Fantasy. I’m having a hard time picking a book!

How did this month’s motif treat you? What did you read?

PS- Now that we’re past the half way point with this challenge, we’d love some feedback- what’s working for you and what’s not? What would you like to see from us as your hosts?
