New Releases Coming From Our Favorite Authors

When your favorite authors have new stuff on the horizon, you’ve just got to give them a shout out! Here are the new releases we’re most looking forward to this year…

✤ Tanya ✤

The Outsider, Stephen King

Stephen King was the first author I ever called a favorite. I inhaled his books as a kid – and it’s pretty much the same now that I’m an adult. His are probably the only books I try to read as soon as they come out.

Outsider (Book) Stephen King

An eleven-year-old boy is found in a town park, hideously assaulted and murdered. The fingerprints (and later DNA) are unmistakably those of the town’s most popular baseball coach, Terry Maitland, a man of impeccable reputation, with a wife and two daughters. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland coached, orders an immediate and public arrest. Maitland is taken to jail, his claim to innocence scorned. Maitland has a foolproof alibi, with footage to prove that he was in another city when the crime was committed. But that doesn’t save him either.

The Crooked Staircase, Dean Koontz

Koontz was the another author I called a fave as a kid, but it’s been ages since I’ve read anything by him. Not only do I want to catch up on his latest book, The Crooked Staircase, but I plan on reading most of the books I’ve missed in recent years.

Battling the strange epidemic of murder-suicides that claimed Jane’s husband, and is escalating across the country, has made the rogue FBI agent a wanted fugitive, relentlessly hunted not only by the government but by the secret cabal behind the plot.

Obsidio, Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This is the third book in the Illuminae Files series coming March. I’ve already preordered it through Audible. I listened to the audio for the first two books and really loved them. Then I had to check both books out from the library and read through them again because the formatting is so cool.

Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha’s past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.

Elementals: Ice Wolves, Amie Kaufman

While checking on the pub date for Obsidio I noticed that Kaufman has a new middle grade series coming out with the first book set to be released at the end of March. I’m for sure checking it out because I want to see what else the she has up her sleeve.

Everyone in Vallen knows that ice wolves and scorch dragons are sworn enemies who live deeply separate lives. So when twelve-year-old orphan Anders takes one elemental form and his twin sister, Rayna, takes another, he wonders whether they are even related.

The Smoke Thieves, Sally Green

Ever since binge reading the Half Bad trilogy I’ve been waiting and waiting for the author to come out with something new. Finally she’s got a new series set to release May 1 this year.

A princess, a traitor, a hunter and a thief. Four teenagers with the fate of the world in their hands. Four nations destined for conflict.

The Crooked Staircase is a wonderful title.

I am super excited for Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente. I think that’s my most eagerly awaited read this year.
