One of the most awesome things about the book blogging community is all the events that you can participate in. Here are a few that you can join in October.

October #BookBlogger Events

Oct. 1-31. #FrightFall #Readathon. Read at least ONE scary book which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart.

Oct. 1-31. Blog Ahead. The goal is to increase your number of completed blog posts by 30 in one month.

Oct. 21. Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. How long can you stay up for? What are your readathon tricks? There’s an active support team cheering you on for 24 hours as you attempt to read, read, read. And to celebrate their 10 year anniversary – there’s 30 days of reading prompts for every day in October. Feel free to write topical blog posts, post videos, share Instagram photos, tweet your reminiscences and ideas … however you want to celebrate Readathon!

Oct. 1-31. The October theme for our Monthly Motif Reading Challenge is Games, Challenges, & Contests. Read a book that involves a game of some sort. Video games, war games, psychological mess-with-your-mind games, characters who participate in a contest, or a story in which the character takes on a challenge.

Sep. 1 – Oct. 31. R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril XII #ripxii. Let’s share our love of books or movies that could be classified as Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, or Supernatural.


Major Book Awards in October

Oct. 2, 2017. Shortlist for The Scotiabank Giller Prize – a literary award given to a Canadian author of a novel or short story collection.

Oct. 4, 2017. Finalists for the  National Book Awards – a set of annual U.S. literary awards given for the best in Fiction, Non-Fiction, Young People’s Literature and Poetry.

Oct. 17, 2017. Winners of the Man Booker Prize – a literary prize awarded each year for the best original novel, written in the English language.

October. The 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature.
