One Word {Monthly Motif Feb Check In}

Welcome to another month of the Monthly Motif Reading Challenge! If you haven’t yet- make sure you add your January {Diversify Your Reading} book reviews to the Link Up. Now, on to February {One Word}

One Word

“Read a book with a one word title.”

Well, this might be the easiest prompt all year long! Your book should be your choice of genre, subject matter, author, length, publication year, etc. The only parameter is that the title can contain only one word! So have fun with this one.

5 Books We Love With One Word Titles should give you some good ideas for book choices.

Our Choices

❧ Tanya … I mentioned on 4 Books from the Best of The Year Lists That We Want to Read that Kintu, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi is on my radar, and it’s perfect for this challenge.

In 1750, Kintu Kidda unleashes a curse that will plague his family for generations. In this ambitious tale of a clan and of a nation, Makumbi weaves together the stories of Kintu’s descendants as they seek to break from the burden of their shared past and reconcile the inheritance of tradition and the modern world that is their future.

❧ Kim … On  4 Books from the Best of The Year Lists That We Want to Read I listed Artemis, Andy Weir. I’ll be reading that and I also plan to finish up Beartown, Fredrik Backman.

Artemis – Jazz Bashara is a criminal.Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of her problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself.

Beartown – People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today.
