One of the most awesome things about the book blogging community is all the events that you can participate in. Here are a few that you can join in September.
Sep. 2-5. Take Back Your Shelves ReadaThon. Are you tired of your to-be-read shelves making you their bitch? There’s a readathon for that! Read the books you’ve put off for too long, or read something new to prevent it from becoming a forgotten book. The choice is yours!
Sep. 1 – Oct. 31. Readers Imbibing Peril. Read books along the genres of Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, Supernatural or something similar. There’s different levels, so check out one of my favorite online events of the year.
Sep. 10-16. Steampunk Readathon. Read as many steampunk books as you can – even just 1 is good enough! Check out the link for sign up and suggestions.
Sep. 12-26. Tackle Your TBR Readathon. Read, read and then read some more. It can be an audiobook, ebook, physical book, published, ARC, etc. There are no restrictions.
Sep. 15-18. Bloggiesta. There are new hosts this time around, but it looks like it’s going to be the same awesome, motivating event that it usually is. Work on your blog, work with others, and get engaged in the book blogging community.
Sep. 25 – Oct. 1. Banned Books Week. This year, like last, ALA is focusing on Diverse Books. Bloggers usually organize their own celebration, and I’ll update as I find more events.
Aug. 24 – Sep. 6. Austen in August. AIA is 2 solid weeks of non-stop Janery — reviews, discussions, guest posts, giveaways. readalongs, etc., etc. — if it’s Jane, it’s fair game.
June 20 – Sep. 5. 2016 Virtual Adult Summer Reading Program. Read as many books as you can. These can be books you have been meaning to read, or select one of the lists these curated lists, The most important thing in all of it is to have fun reading! #VASRP
May 1 – Aug. 31. Fun in the Sun Reading Challenge. Read as little or as many books as you want but books may be any genre but must have a fun in the sun theme, a cover with these elements on it, or something in the title that is about the theme. This includes everything associated with spring and summer such as weddings, swimming pools, the ocean, beaches, lounge chairs, flowers, sunglasses, palm trees, vacations, the sun, a garden, rain, thunderstorms, heat and so on.
May 28 – Sep. 5. 2016 Big Book Summer Reading. How many 400+ page books can you read from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I look forward to this challenge every year!
Jun. 1 – Sep. 5. 20 Books of Summer. You can participate in this challenge by choosing your own – 5, 10, 15 or 20 – books to read this summer. Make a list, and link back to the original post. Then hashtag the hell out of your progress #20booksofsummer
Sep 16. Winners of the Anthony Awards which honors mystery fiction writers and their works.
September. Man Booker Prize Shortlist. Winners will be announced Oct. 25, 2016.
