3 Easy Ways to Get Evernote Working For You

App Love for Evernote

Evernote is one of my favorite apps that serves MANY purposes. But at first, it was a bit of a challenge to see how it would work or me. Here’s how I figured it out.

1. Start using Evernote for just one thing. I started with Using Evernote As A Blogging Calendar with a simple system that involve a notebook for the year, and then a note for each month.

2. Be organized, but don’t worry about tags unless it makes sense for you. With my Evernote Blogging Calendar I don’t use tags, but when I started to Use Evernote As a Wine Catalog, I used tags to indicate the type of wine and my  “1 word thoughts” – loved, liked or hated. Since the tags adds more relevant information, they are appropriate but I’m ruthless in being very specific.

3. Use Evernote to cut out clutter in some areas of your life, or to solve a problem. For me that meant Using Evernote to Save Business Cards, which eliminates the need to keep track of physical paper. I also choose this method, so when I switched jobs, my network of contacts traveled with me. Plus, Evernote search will scan the text in images too, so very easy to search.

With those 3 simple tips, one app is helping me stay organized in multiple ways. What are some of the tasks Evernote helps you with? What’s your most used app that helps organize your life?

  1. I still don’t use Evernote too often but these are great ways to use it. I like how you use it for business cards. I’d seen one blogger use it to organize recipes too I thought was pretty ingenious. Thanks for sharing!
