(U)nfinished Series That Need Some Love and Attention #SummerAtoZ

Our Reading Inbox

We mentioned new releases in series that we’ve got our eye on In Our Summer Reading (I)nbox {2016 Series Releases} but they’re also a few series that we’ve got a bit behind on – but that we don’t want to leave behind.

The Craft Sequence Series, Max Gladstone

The Craft Sequence Book Series

I’ve only read the first book, Three Parts Dead, and there are 5 books in the series. What’s interesting too is that Max Gladstone recommends NOT reading the books in order of publication date – but in chronological order of the story – This is How I Numbered My Books and I’m Sorry. So his recommendation – Last First Snow, Two Serpents Rise, Three Parts Dead, Four Roads Cross and Full Fathom Five.

Otherworld Series, Kelley Armstrong

otherworld book series

I’ve read the first 4 books in the series and loved each and every one (Bitten, the 1st book in the series, is my fave). There are 13 books in the series so I might just need a Kelly Armstrong binge read if I’m ever to finish them all.

The interesting things about both of those series is that each book stands on it’s own and is a new story, not a continuation of the book before it.

The Raven Cycle, Maggie Stiefvater

I’ve all but the last book in the series. I’ll be honest, I can’t bring myself to start The Raven King because I’m simply not ready to let go of the characters! I’ll be sad when I finish these books. I’ve loved them so much.

Dublin Murder Squad, Tana French

I’ve been listening to all of these on audio and they’ve become one of my favorite crime series. I’ve read the first three but there are three more after that. I’m wondering if French will continue on with even more of them. I sure hope so!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Laini Taylor

series finisher

The only thing that has kept me from picking up my copy of Dreams of Gods and Monsters (#3) is the size of the book. I think it might be time to check out the audio version and give it a listen instead. Come to think of it, this would be a stellar pick for the #BigBookSummerChallenge

  1. How interesting that Gladstone encourages people to read his books in an order that’s different from how they were published – that’s very unusual indeed!!

I have so many series I need to finish – it’s a bit ridiculous, actually.
