#WickedGoodReads {The Zombie Edition}

I firmly believe that zombie books have some excellent ideas on how to survive an apocalypse – so they are one of my favorite types of books to read. Here are 3 zombie books that might help you survive an apocalypse.

Zone One, Colson Whitehead

The rules for surviving the zombie-pocalypse in Zone One.
Rule #1 Shit happens – don’t waste time trying to figure out why.
Rule #2 Adapt or die – don’t waste time trying to figure out the how. Just do.
Rule #3 If you find yourself getting comfortable after you adapt, refer to Rule #1 – because the shit’s about to hit the fan AGAIN!

This book is dark and not even really about the zombies, but more about surviving once the World as you know it has been taken away from you. Do you try to rebuild & live like the “old days” or do you adapt and change – even to a World that’s not to your liking?

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, Max Brooks

People who survived a zombie apocalypse tell you how they did it. Not going to lie though – a lot of it was luck, so don’t get your hopes up.

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time.

Feed (The Newsflesh Trilogy), Mira Grant

This is what it’s like to live in a post-sombie-apocalypse World. There are still governments, people just trying to live, corruption, journalists … and bloggers! There’s so much to this series of books that all I can say is … go read it!

Twenty years after the Rising, bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives – the dark conspiracy behind the infected.

      @fishgirl I hope you get to read Feed – having bloggers be main characters in a post apocalyptic novel is a must read 🙂

  2. I would add The Forest of Hands and Teeth series. So good! I’d like to give Zone One a try. That sounds crazy interesting. And my hubby loved World War Z.
