Winter Goals {The 2017 Edition}

The start of the new year always feels good, doesn’t it? 2017 is no different and we’re both looking to make some positive changes and set some new goals this winter…

Kim – A look back at my 2016 Winter goals had me wondering, what happened?? I really struggled with follow through. In 2017 I’m hoping to keep it simple and be able to stay focused all year long…

  1. MOVE – Every single day. This means walking, DVD workouts, gym fitness classes, or whatever I can make happen. I won’t lie, this one is going to be hard for me as I work to get back in the habit.
  2. GET OUTSIDE – Every single day. Rain or shine, I’ve got to get outside and get some fresh air. I know the kiddo will thank me for this one too.
  3. RECORD – I got way behind when it came to memory keeping last year. Bullet journaling helped me get back on the train but there’s more I want to do.
  4. INDULGE – Allow myself time to work on my own creative projects each week, practice regular self-care, do what makes me happy even if it seems frivolous. These are the kinds of things that keep me sane and that’s kind of important!

Tanya – I had 3 goals last year’s Winter Goals and I did pretty good on #2 (Read all the books on my Winter reading list)and #3 (run 1 winter race) but failed miserably at #1 (getting back on track with my fitness) … so I’m keeping things very similar again this year – but with an eye for HOW to remember these goals and work towards them every day …

  1. PERSONAL – Exercise 4-5x / week and keep a workout log.
  2. READING – Read all the books on my 2017 Winter Reading list.
  3. BLOGGING – Be a good partner for January’s Comment Challenge (Reading and Blogging Challenges {The 2017 Edition})
  4. BOOKISH COMMUNITY – Participate in at least one #BookBlogger Event each month.

What’s the one thing you want to accomplish this winter?

  1. Fitness is always a great goal 🙂 And obviously I agree that reading and blogging are great goals lol, though I don’t have a particular list (other than review copies) or comment challenges. Just the discussion challenge for me. I tend to be a loner blogger. I feel like I should participate more, but it seems stressful and intimidating! Maybe this year I’ll finally give some sort of event a try 🙂

  2. These are awesome goals! I definitely want to read more of the books I already own as well as exercise at least four times a week. Sometimes it’s hard to fit in a workout after work if I visit friends or have something else to do (or if I’m just feeling unmotivated haha) but I feel like the more effort I put into making exercising a part of my daily routine the better off I’ll be in the long run. Anyways, Happy New Year!

    You both have great goals! The getting outside and getting exercise ones should be on my list too. It’s too easy some days for this introvert mom to just stay inside with her toddler and not talk to anyone!

    In September of 2016 my husband and I bought ourselves Fitbits. We have office jobs and it’s important to get up and move. But you don’t always remember to stretch every hour or walk a few steps. Best thing we did as we lost weight (17 pounds for him & 12 for me) and continued to challenge ourselves. So I am pledged to keep alkimg, raise the bar more and more and be physically fit this year.

    Reading goals are carefully written out and I’m sticking to a reasonable list. If I can read more, fantastic, but I am sticking with a reasonable goal. Happy new year to you all!

      @Tina – that’s awesome! My husband and I bought fit watched in 2016 too – but we haven’t used them as much as we should. You totally inspired me to get up and challenge each other. Congratulations on the weight loss!
