Currently Reading

I wasn’t sure what I was going to read this week – just wasn’t feeling anything, but then I settled on listening to the audiobook of Pride, Ibi Zoboi. I loved Zoboi’s previous (young adult) novel, American Street – it was one of my favorite books read last year – so I was excited to try this one – also a YA novel. It’s a re-telling of Pride and Prejudice – in a modern, diverse urban setting – Bedstuy (Brooklyn) NY. The audiobook is narrated by Elizabeth Acevedo who did a wonderful job with the characterizations and feeling of the novel. This was a quick listen at just 6 hrs and 8 minutes.

I think I might be done with audiobooks for the rest of the year. Right now, I have a small stack of print books I’d like to get through – starting wtih Elevation, Steven King. This is a novella that King published earlier this year. It was actually on my Fall reading list, but I’m just getting to it now.

Elevation, Stephen King

Elevation Stephen King

Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis.
