Currently Reading

Tanya – I’m still reading the same book I was last week, Children of the Street (Darko Dawson #2), Kwei Quartey. It’s just OK and I doubt I’ll continue with the series – it’s just not holding my attention. I did start and finish the audiobook of Shattered Wings (Dominion of the Fallen #1), Aliette de Bodard. It was OK but there were so many elements that were just not fully explained. I don’t know if I’ll continue with this series either.

Paris has survived the Great Houses War – just. Its streets are lined with haunted ruins, Notre-Dame is a burnt-out shell, and the Seine runs black with ashes and rubble. House Silverspires, previously the leader of those power games, lies in disarray. Its magic is ailing; its founder, Morningstar, has been missing for decades; and now something from the shadows stalks its people inside their very own walls. Within the House, three very different people must come together. They may be Silverspires’ salvation. They may be the architects of its last, irreversible fall.

So this week, I’m continuing with Children of the Street and I started the audiobook of Final Girls, Riley Sager.

Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls.

What are you reading this week? Bloggiesta starts later this week (Sept. 21-24). Are you participating? See more in September #BookBlogging Events.
