3 (N)ew Books We Recommend Reading this Year

2022 has been a great year for new releases! I’ve managed to get to a few but there are still so many I’m excited about. Here are 3 that I would recommend in a heartbeat…

The Island, Adrian McKinty

(published May 17, 2022)

If you like fast-paced, nail-biting thrillers where the protagonist is literally running for their life, you’ll love this one! After reading and loving The Chain, I knew I had to give this a try. It did not disappoint! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Newly married Heather Baxter is on vacation with her husband and his two teenage children in the Australian outback. When they discover a remote island, off-limits to outside visitors, the family talks their way onto the ferry, hoping for a quick adventure. But as soon as they set foot on the island, which is run by a tightly knit clan of locals, everything feels wrong. Then a shocking accident propels the Baxters from an unsettling situation into an absolute nightmare where they’re running for their lives.

Book Lovers, Emily Henry

(published May 3, 2022)

A romantic comedy involving two book nerds? Sign me up! This is a perfect summer read and will give you a glimpse into the behind the scenes of publishing. Fun and quirky characters make this a great read!

Nora Stephens life is books. She works a cutthroat job in publishing that keeps her busy all the time. Finally her sister, Libby, convinces her to take a much needed girls’ trip to small town Sunshine Falls. But instead of a break from work, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

The Cabin in the Woods, Sarah Alderson

(published July 7, 2022)

A mysterious woman in a cabin. She’s running from something, but what? And what happens when it catches up with her? If you like mysteries with lots of layers and characters with shady pasts, you’ll love this one. Get ready to question whether your narrator can be believed!

How on earth did rags to riches story, Rose Reid find herself hiding out in a cabin in the middle of a remote forest? It started with the death of her high profile husband. Up until then she’d lived a fairytale life. Now she’s trying desperately to keep from being found and wondering how she’ll ever get her life back.

  1. I have book lovers on my shelf but had to return it to the library. The only new book in reading is Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte. It’s nonfiction about organizing your info digitally to be able to use your first brain for more creative pursuits and living your best life. It’s great for a planner/organizing content creating nerd like me. Im reading Finlay Donovan is killing it , I don’t think it’s a must read yet. Im still on a quest too to read through my bookshelves and there’s nothing new on there. In fact, I’m reading the oldest books first and they have been there 10 years!!
