#AMonthofFaves Challenges & Goals

#AMonthofFaves Challenges and Goals –  Reading challenges, personal goals, resolutions – how did you do? Which was your favorite book read (and / or least favorite) for each challenge – or from all of them. Did you make New Years Resolutions? Did you get to all of them? Are you making any for next year … next month … next season?

Reading Challenges & Bookish Goals

Tanya and I are goal oriented readers and we love a good challenge. We couldn’t resist hosting 3! of our own reading challenges here at GXO and we’d love for you to join us for one or all of them! Here are my goals for 2020.

+ Complete all 12 prompts for both the Monthly Motif Reading Challenge and the Monthly Key Word Reading Challenge.

+ Read at least one award winner for the Monthly Book Award Reading Challenge every month. Some of my reads will officially count and some might not- but I still want to read one each month.

+ Check in with GXO challenge participants one a month to see what they’ve been reading and encourage them to keep working on the challenges.

+ Bring all three challenges to Instagram! through the hashtags (#MonthlyMotifGXO, #MonthlyKeyWordGXO, #GXOAwardReadingChallenge) and by posting regularly reading suggestions, updates to my own progress, and sharing the participants progress.

+ I’ve also decided that I want to see how many prompts I can check off on the Book Riot Read Harder Reading Challenge, and the PopSugar Reading Challenge. I have no grand plans to complete either challenge but rather, just see how I do and use the unique prompts to help me choose unique and interesting books to read this year.

+ Post to the GXO blog more regularly. Tanya and I do a good job of volleyballing posting duties back and forth but I dropped the ball more than I care to admit last year. I love posting here and I’d like to contribute more really great content in the new year.

+ This year we started a GXO Instagram account! I want to make a balanced plan for posting to both my bookstagram and the GXO bookstagram.

+ Interact with my #bookstagrammer and blogging followers more regularly. I have been reading blogs but not commenting much.

Life/Work Goals & Intentions

+ Just recently I was hired as an adjunct professor for our local university. I know my goals will get more specific regarding work once I get settled into the position. But to begin, my number one goal is to be a resource to my students and of course, be a good teacher. I’ve written my course work and, in the interest of time, it’s pretty bare bones. I would really like to add supplemental materials and links that will further help my class with the course subject matter. I suspect I’ll get more specific with this as the semester progresses. Stay tuned.

+ Revive my yoga habit. I’m turning 39 this year… and I feel it. This is the first year where I can say that my body actual feels a bit older. Yoga is key for me and it needs to be a daily habit.

+ Choose a planner and a personal routine that will work for me to accomplish all my daily goals. I floundered so much and couldn’t find anything that really fit me. I’m a stay at home mom, a dance teacher, a university professor, and I have all these bookish & personal goals. Finding a system that worked for all these things has been hard. I want to get that nailed down by the end of 2019.

I’m using your three reading challenges to get through the physical books in my TBR pile this year!

Oh man, I forgot to add yoga to my list. I am also feeling my age and the lack of flexibility from not maintaining a yoga practice, and that is something I definitely want to get back into next year. My friend does a daily yoga check-in on her Instagram stories to stay accountable. Maybe I can do something like that to keep myself accountable as well.

  3. All those goals sounds SO good. As far as planners- have you tried Erin Condren’s planner? I REALLY like it!

Loved your Monthly Motif and Key word challenges – and completed both! Looking forward to taking part in these and other challenges in 2020.

I used to do reading challenges when I read more per year than I do now. But for now, I’m fine with participating in a few book blogger events like A Month of Faves and read what (little) I do each.

I hear you on the personal routine. My work schedule is becoming more consistent in the new year so hopefully I can develop more of a routine than I have in the past (which has been pretty much nonexistent). Not helping was a torn meniscus in my left knee. But now that that has been repaired and I’m recuperating, I hope to “get back on track.”
