#AMonthofFaves The Favorite Things 2018 Edition

Welcome to the first day of #AMonthofFaves [The 2018 Edition] hosted by GirlxoxoTraveling with T and Estella’s Revenge. We have every day of the event (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) planned out for you, so you can join in anytime. Today, we’re talking favorite things bought, used or gifted.

Revisiting Past Faves

✼ From (K)eep It – 5 Recent Purchases That Are Totally Worth It (Summer 2016)

ONE+ Leather ARC planner from Staples (9 1/2 x 11 1/2) … I still love this planner, but I’m not using it anymore. I’m currently using a dated Moleskin, which has the week on one side, and a lined page for notes on the other side.

TWO+ 13 inch Dell Inspiron 13 7000 series 2-in-1 Tablet PC … still using it … actually typing up this blog post on it.

Travel Style Tote

THREE+ Garmin Vivoactive HR. Both my husband and I have one and we love it BUT the band broke … actually the piece that the band attached to on the watch face broke, so getting a new band would not work. It was under warranty (bought the extended warranty) so we were able to get BOTH replaced. Then … they broke AGAIN a few months later, and out of warranty. I don’t need mine anymore, but my hubby loves it, so I’m going to get him the newest model.

FOUR+ MegaSlicks Balm Stain. Still in love with this – it’s my daily “subtle” lipstick when I’m going to work off-site in a man turing plant.

FIVE+ Nexus 5 Smartphone … sadly, this died probably at the end of that year – and the newer versions … I just don’t want to spend $500+ on phones. So now I have Moto G5s Plus and am pretty happy with it for the price ($300.00).

✼ From These Are A Few of Our Favorite Things in 2016

SIX+ Travelpro Carry-On Luggage –Still going strong. I have bought 2 more smaller carry-ons (for smaller planes so I don’t have to check my bag at the gate) – but the Travelpro suitcase is still my go-to.

SEVEN+ JBL Everest Elite 700 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones – These had a good run, but earlier this year, I got a different pair of headphones and fell in love … see below for more.

EIGHT+ JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth Speaker (husband fave) – Still using and loving. Since using and loving.

JBL Faves

My Favorite Things [The 2018 Edition]

NINE+ It’s rare for me to buy anything major online sight unseen, but we bought this Furniture of America Luxury Brown Cherry Baroque-style Sleigh Bed from Overtock.com and love it.

TEN+ Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC Bluetooth Noise Canceling Headphones. This bluetooth, noise cancelling headphones is the biz! I primarily use it to filter out airplane noise and at 50+ flights this year – I do not travel without it because the noise canceling is so amazing, sound is also … amazing … and it’s wireless thanks to bluetooth. Love that it also comes with a headphone cable – useful when you run of charge and so bluetooth doesn’t work anymore and of course. Plus it’s charged by a regular USB cable, which also comes with it. Everything is packaged in a pouch – which is my only issue. I wish this came in a hardshell case. Other than that – love, love, love.

ELEVEN+  Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Tablet. This was a birthday gift for the hubby who had an iPad that was on it’s last legs. He loves this MORE. Loves that it has memory slot, USB port and it works fantastic.

TWELVE+ HP OfficeJet Pro 6962. Easy to use wireless 3-in-1 printer that also prints double sided. We also still have the 6960 which doesn’t print double sided but is still a dream more than 3 years after purchasing. They also have a newer model – the HP Officejet Pro 6968.

THIRTEEN+  Fenti Foundation. LOVE this so much. I have hyper-pigmentation (dark spots) on my fave from acne scarring, and the Fenti foundation is awesome at concealing and covering. I still love MAC products, but this was my go-to all year.

FOURTEEN+ Fenti Lipstick. The ONLY lipstick that I’ve used that is truly all day wear – even stays on after eating!

FIFTEEN+  Pilot G2 07 Fine Pens. Yes – I will only buy this. I have to use pens without caps (or else I would also be claiming the Sharpie Pens) – so this is my go to. No bleeding through the page of my planner.

SIXTEEN+ Magnetic Metal Hooks. These bad boys are on our refrigerator and used to hold our family calendar. And we have it on our back door which is metal, to hold seasonal decorations like Christmas wreaths. I didn’t even knew these things existed until the hubby bought them! Something so simple yet so useful.

SEVETEEN+ Gorilla Double Sided Tape. Strong *AF. In 4 Favorites From Around the (H)ome, I mentioned using it to mount our doorbell receivers. And check out that post for a few more favorites from this year as well.

EIGHTEEN+ Command Hooks. Just keep a variety in stock because they are so useful and (when you’re careful) they really come off without peeling the paint on your walls.

Love your take on this post! I really should probably revisit my old faves, but I might be a little scared! lol That bed is BEAUTIFUL!

@Andi It really makes a statement – love it and don’t regret spending that $$.

  3. Love your purse.

Oh yes…those magnetic hooks are great.

You have made a lot of nice purchases. 🙂

  4. Ohhh does the Fenti lipstick do well as far as not drying out your lips? I’m always looking for something that’ll hold up as a flutist.

@Monika – It’s about the same as all other matte lipsticks – which is to say it’s not really hydrating. I don’t usually wear it everyday since the color really pops – I save it for evenings or those days when I just want to feel extra perrrttyyyy,

  5. I love noise canceling headphones. I don’t travel, but for my tinnitus, they work wonders. I had a pair of QC25s from Bose, but the battery compartment broke (no batteries would work in it), so I got a deal for a pair of QC35s (the earlier model but still very good) that I couldn’t refuse. They’re supposed to arrive today. I can’t wait.

I’ll have to seek out those pens. I’m always looking for good pens.

@Bryan – Good to know the Bose QC25s is nice too.

I don’t tend to buy a lot of stuff so can’t really think of a favourite item I purchased this year, especially one I use daily. Maybe my big floppy straw hat for summer which I wore a lot and the toque which I bought on our trip to Iceland. I guess I’m a hat person?!?!?

@Natashajk – I always feel good about purchases I get a lot of use out of too.
