April Book Blogger Events

One of the most awesome things about the book blogging community is all the events that you can participate in. Here are a few that you can join in April.

#BookBlogger Events

Apr. 13-17. #Readthemeathon Coming of Age Read-a-Thon. For this week, read books according to the theme, and keep us up to date with your daily page count or book pics using the hashtag #readthemeathon on Twitter and Instagram!!

Apr. 18-24. Spring Into Horror Read-a-Thon. There is only one rule – Read at least 1 scary book – horror, paranormal, thriller, mystery, etc. Sign up to participate, and then link up to your review to be entered into a giveaway.

Apr. 23. 24 Hour Readathon. There were 2000+ participants in the last event (October 2015) – join in for 24 hours, or just whatever part of the day you can.

Apr. 1-30. Classic Children’s Literature Event. During the month of April, read as many Children’s Classics as you wish and post about them on your blog and link-up on the event page. The optional Read-a-long book is Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kästner, which will be discussed the weekend of April 22-24.

Novel Nellie Instagram Challenge

Apr. 1-30. ARC April. Read any books that is / was an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy). It can be an e-ARC or physical ARC. It can have a 2017 release date or an overdue date of 2010!

Apr. 1-30. Where in the world will your Nobel take you? #ReadNobels #TTWIBRAT. Read ONE book this April that qualifies for both challenges – Travel the World in Books and Read the Nobels.

Apr. 1-30. #OQReadAlong. April is the release month to the highly anticipated conclusion to The Orphan Queen duology, and to celebrate The Mirror King’s book birthday, there will be a read-a-long of both books: The Orphan Queen – April 3-16 and The Mirror King – April 17-30. #OQReadAlong


#BookAwards Happenings in April

Apr. 14. Shortlist for The Man Booker International Prize. This award is for the “best” book translated into English. Winner will be announced May 16.

Apr. 16. Longlist for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction. “The Prize is awarded annually and celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing from throughout the world.” June 8th – the winner will be announced.

Apr. 18. Winners of the Pulitzer Prize honoring excellence in journalism and the arts.

April. Nominees for the 2016 Hugo Awards and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. This award is given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year.

Apr. 26. Finalists for the Best Translated Book Awards which highlights the best original works of international fiction and poetry published in the US.

Apr. 28. Edgar Awards Winners which honors the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction and television.

    Thanks for producing these lists – even if I don’t take part, I find it interesting to know they’re happening, and one day I might just take part in one! (By default I seem to be taking part in ARC April, though I’m trying to move away from forward list books!)

      @nordie same here! Sometimes I don’t participate and sometimes I try but it’s great to know what’s out there.
