One of the most awesome things about the book blogging community is all the events that you can participate in. October (in the US) is all about the Autumnal season – and Halloween!

October Bookish Events (Online)

Oct. 1-31. BiteOber Reading Challenge. Read as little or as many books as you want, as long as it’s ANY type of horror book but ideally, they should feature vampires, werewolves, zombies, demons, killer clowns, and any other monster as main characters or secondary characters … But books about murderers, serial killers, ghosts, witches, and other types of horror are allowed.

Oct. 1-31. Murder, Monsters & Mayhem. Sign up to share your posts during the month on October on anything related to reading about … murder, monsters & mayhem!

Oct. 1-31. #FrightFall #Readathon. Read at least ONE scary book which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart. There will also be a pre-readathon September 29-30 and a post-readathon Oct. 31 – Nov. 1.

Oct. 1-31. Blog Ahead. The goal is to hunker down for the month of October and increase the number of scheduled posts you have by 30.

Oct. 4. Announcing The Hate U Give YA Book Club Meeting in B&N Stores. This will only happen at 29 select stores (7PM), but I for one am supporting the heck out of the last national book chain … plus the book is dope AF.

Oct. 11-16. Fraterfest Readathon. Grab your thrillers, paranormal, supernatural, mysteries, horror, suspense and thrillers to join this readathon.

Oct. 30-Nov. 5. Witch Week. This year, our theme is Feminism + Fantasy, so our read-along book will be Ursula K Le Guin‘s The Other Wind, the final book in the Earthsea series

October 20. Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. How long can you stay up for? What are your readathon tricks? There’s an active support team cheering you on for 24 hours as you attempt to read, read, read. And to celebrate their 10 year anniversary – there’s 30 days of reading prompts for every day in October. Feel free to write topical blog posts, post videos, share Instagram photos, tweet your reminiscences and ideas … however you want to celebrate Readathon!

Ongoing …

Sep. 1 – Oct. 31. Readers Imbibing Peril. Read books (and watch movies) along the genres of Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, Supernatural or something similar. There’s different levels, so check out one of my favorite online events of the year.

Sep. 1-Nov. 22. Sweater Weather Reading Challenge. Books that may counted can have Fall / Autumn themed titles, the word Fall in the title, the months of Fall in the title, the word harvest in the title, be about school themes (fall is time to go back to school), have leaves, fall colored trees, apples, or pumpkins on the cover.

Sep. 1 – Nov. 30. Bookish Bingo: Fall 2018. Bookish Bingo is a seasonal feature wherein we try to expand our reading horizons a bit and cover as much of the bingo card as possible. You can only use one square per book, and all books must be read in September, October or November.
