Currently Showing August Some Love

Where did the month go?!

… FAVE READ

The Nest, Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. Who would have thought a contemporary book would make my favorites list – but here it is! The author did an amazing job with the characters. They were totally relatable, and also the situations they were in was so well interwoven into the story that I loved seeing everything unveil. Thanks to the August Monthly Motif Challenge for getting me outside my reading comfort zone.

… SAVING $$$

I’ve focused this year on saving and getting financially straight (recovering from past bad habits). Thinking about this, and all the upheaval in the black community that’s just being publicized more recently spurred me to join the #BankBlack movement and open up a savings account online with One United Bank. It’s been nothing but a positive experience and I encourage everyone to think about using their $ and time to support a cause that’s important to you in any small way that you can. You can probably do more than you think.

… ORGANIZING

Like a champ. I feel like I have a pouch for everything now. See What’s In Our Everyday Bag {Summer Edition} and (T)ravel Kit Essentials {The Summer Edition}

… ENTER SEPTEMBER

September is a transition month for me. Transition to a new job and Reading and preparing for #WickedGoodReads Month in October. I’d also like to get back into good blogging habits, in particular scheduling blog posts in advance and commenting more.

What are your goals for September?

    My aim this whole summer is trying to enjoy blogging again (and book blogging in particular). I had got into a rut where I was no longer feeling it. Finally changed up themes, stopped putting pressure on myself to blog, and feeling better about the blog now.

    The challenge in September is to keep this momentum going even though I have bucket loads of non-blog commitments coming up.
