July Monthly Motif Check In {LOL}

The July theme for the 2016 Monthly Motif Reading Challenge is LOL. Hilarious memoirs, silly chick lit, comedic sci-fi. Pick a book that is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.
Kim –  My pick this month is Amy Poehler’s, Yes Please. I picked up the audiobook ages ago and I think this is the perfect time to give it a listen.

In her first book, one of our most beloved funny folk delivers a smart, pointed, and ultimately inspirational read. Full of the comedic skill that makes us all love Amy, Yes Please is a rich and varied collection of stories, lists, poetry (Plastic Surgery Haiku, to be specific), photographs, mantras and advice.

Tanya – It was so hard to choose a book to read for this challenge, because I rarely ever seek out funny books. In the end, I decided to go with Me Talk Pretty One Day, David Sedaris.

David Sedaris’ move to Paris from New York inspired these hilarious pieces, including the title essay, about his attempts to learn French from a sadistic teacher who declares that “every day spent with you is like having a caesarean section”.
