The June theme for the 2016 Monthly Motif Reading Challenge is Girlxoxo Recommends. We’ve read a lot of great books. Check out our Bookish Archives and pick one of our recommendations off our book lists. What are you going to read?
Kim – I’m recommending 3 books for Tanya to pick 1 and read this month. They are ….
The Likeness, Tana French. I noticed she hasn’t read anything from Tana French and I really think she’d like this undercover murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. Plus, you don’t have to read this series in order. The Likeness is my favorite.
A Darker Shade of Magic, V.E. Schwab. I think she’ll like the concept of Red London, Grey London, and Black London. This is all about a battle between good and evil, between magical London and corrupted London, and between two Antari’s. It’s a fun read and the second in this series brings in pirates and a magical tournament.
Splintered, A.G. Howard. Because she liked the Cinder series. There’s a little bit of fluff in this book compared to Cinder but it’s got a creepiness to it too and is a really great fairy tale retelling.
Tanya – I looked through Kim’s books on Goodreads, and thought she would like …
The Girl With all the Gifts, M.R. Carey. Because she likes Jonathan Maberry, I think she’ll love this one too. It’s fast paced non-stop action + zombies.
Ghost Summer: Stories, Tananarive Due. Because it was one of my favorite reads last year, and Kim likes genre reads.
Boy21, Matthew Quick. Because it’s another one of my favorite reads last year, and it’s on her “to read” list – it needs to go on to the “currently reading” pile.
Come back mid month when we do our highlights post to see which books we picked! But first, cast your vote in the comments for each of us. Which of these should we read?
