Pineapple and Kiwi Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are my jam because it’s an easy win for taste and nutrition with fresh fruits and veggies. There’s an unending array of combinations that you can try and this pineapple and kiwi one is pretty freakin’ fantastic.

Sometimes things just come together and you get to make something awesome out of it. In this case, since I like to buy a fresh pineapples every few weeks, I had some already cut up in the fridge. Then my grocery store looks like they got in a fresh shipment of kiwi fruit – they looked too good to pass up. What can you make with kiwi and pineapple … a vitamin C rich smoothie!

Pineapple Kiwi Fruit

To make it, add equal parts kiwi and fresh (not canned) pineapple chunks to a blender.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a green smoothie without some greens … so throw in a big handful of spinach too.

And then there’s the base ingredients – frozen chunks of banana (start with 1/2c and add more for sweetness if needed), chia seeds and a liquid – water works just fine … but so would milk, or a non-dairy  milk alternative like hemp or almond milk. Then blend for a few minutes … blend really, really well. My blender of choice for smoothies is the Oster MyBlend Blender.

Pineapple Kiwi Smoothie

Ingredients

+ 1/4c Fresh Pineapple (chunks)

+ 1/4c Kiwi

+ 1-2c Spinach

+ 1/2c Bananas

+ 1Tbsp Better Body Foods Chia Seeds

+ Water

If your smoothie comes out too thick … add more liquid and blend some more. This smoothie recipe can be tart – it’s very dependent on the sweetness of the pineapple and kiwi that you’re using, so if it’s not sweet enough, add more bananas and blend some more.

Like I said – everything comes together beautifully in this wonderfully refreshing green smoothie! I may or may not have gorged myself on leftover kiwi slices and pineapple – resulting in an overly stuffed tummy!

What’s your favorite fruit? Do you like “green” smoothies?
