Vacation Reads
“Read a book you think is a perfect vacation read.”
Our Choices
❧ Tanya … Legendary (Caraval #2), Stephanie Garber. I read the first book in the series, Caraval, this year, and it was a fun, quick read. The story takes place on an island where a once-a-year performance is put on, and the everyone on the island participates – either as cast-member or trying to unravel the mystery and follow the clues to win a prize. The sequel, Legendary, sounds like just as much fun – and I think it would make a perfect summer vacation read.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
❧ Kim … Snow Crash, Neal Stephensen. I put this on hold at my library a couple of weeks ago. I’m hoping it comes in soon because I’m anxious to read it.
In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo’s CosaNostra Pizza, Inc., but in the Metaverse he’s a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that’s striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about infocalypse.

@Lauren – I just finished it. I liked it but not as much as Caraval … let me know what you think of it when you get to it.
