Favorites and Must Haves For Winter Survival #AMonthofFaves2016

What are some of your must haves to survive a brutal winter?

Tanya – Last year I shared my 5 Must Haves for Winter Survival (Gear) which is still the same this year. So I’m switching it up a bit and giving you a Winter Beverages Edition

Tea – I love tea and there is nothing better in winter than curling up with a good book and a steaming hot mug of tea. My Fall Tea Blend was Caribbean Dreams Instant Ginger Tea (Unsweetened) + Celestial Teahouse Coconut Thai Chai Tea. For cold winter mornings, I start the day off with Celestial Teahouse Dirty Chai which is described as a, “lively masala chai blend of Assam black tea and spices, and spiked it with an invigorating burst of real espresso.” I’m also Celestial Seasonings Peppermint Herbal Tea … spiked with some of the Ginger Tea of course.

Benchmark Old No. 8 Egg Nog With Bourbon Whiskey is my favorite spiked nogg. It’s thick, smooth, you can taste the bourbon and spice notes too. This

My absolute favorite travel mug for coffee is Contigo Autoseal West Loop (pictured on the left in the picture above). It really does keep beverages hot for a few hours – in fact, watch out, the first sip can be really hot!

For tea, I use Savor Insulated Tea Tumbler with Infuser. There may be better ones out there, but that does the job well and it’s easy to clean.

Kim – I’ve lived in Utah my whole life and I still can’t get used to the winter. I hate the cold but I do love how beautiful a freshly fallen snow is. Surviving this season is all about wearing the right stuff…

Last year my hubs bought me a new coat from Eddie Bauer. This is the one I have. I love it so much. It was a splurge but I can’t imagine how I survived winter without it before.

Boots are a must around here and I often wear my winter boots as my regular footwear when I’m out and about. I have these Sorrel ones. I really love them but might buy a second pair that comes up a bit higher on my legs.

I love dressing for winter and get really excited to pull out my cozy sweaters and cardigans. I found some really cute sweaters that fit me in the teen boy section of H&M last year for only $10 each. Score! This year I picked up a couple of cardigans from Target and have been wearing them nonstop. I got this one in two different colors.

  1. The Contigo is an amazing travel mug! I actually put an ice cube or two in my coffee when I use it because it keeps coffee PIPING hot for hours otherwise (which some people love, but I’m a wimp). And I love that it locks and is completely spill-proof. My husband actually throws this mug into his backpack all the time without worrying at all.

@Nicole I love the idea of the icecube because that first sip is sometimes super hot.

For me its mint and liquorice tea – Vanilla Lattes from starbucks – and a baileys in the evening, sometimes straight, sometimes in hot chocolate 🙂 I don’t know how I would get through winter without them! Great post!

@Sarah ooh I love how you do winter. And double yes to Baileys!

  3. I am not a tea drinker (well, I do drink sweet tea!) But some of my family does drink tea so I think I may keep a suggestion or 2 of yours on hand for them!
