Five Things I Do Every Day [Day in The Life]

Do you have habits, rituals, things you realize that you do every single? Maybe things you have to do every day to keep your life running smoothly or just to feel sane? I know I do. Here are five things that I do every single day…

ONE. Read

Shall we start with the obvious? Of course I read every day! Sometimes it’s five minutes, sometimes it’s two hours of audiobook, sometimes just one page of my paperback. I always feel that something is missing if I didn’t make even just a little bit of progress on my books. I used to miss days here and there but over the summer I decided to see if I could commit to picking up my book every day and reading however much I could fit in. And… I’ve kept it up so far!

TWO. Stretch

I know some people workout every day but as a dancer, it’s actually more important to me that I stay limber. I try to stretch for at least 5-10 minutes every morning and evening. Obviously a dancer wants flexibility but that’s not the only reason I’ve committed to doing this. As I get older, and notice my body complaining with more and more small aches, I’ve realized that it’s so important to maintain my mobility. Often I accompany my stretches with a yoga flow practice or other weight training exercises- but not every day.

THREE. Update my planner

I am a planner junkie through and through. I’ve tried just using lists or notebooks but in the end I can never resist a cute planner when I see one. Every evening before I go to bed I check my planner to see what I’ve got coming up the next day. I also make a note of a few things I need or would like to accomplish that day. It’s a pretty loose system because I work from home and don’t have a super rigid schedule. I love my planner because it helps me stay on track with my goals.

FOUR. Set the coffee maker

I always start my day with a cup of coffee. I’m addicted. I’ll admit it. As simple as it is, I’ve found that I wake up so much happier when I can smell the coffee brewing in the other morning. It’s a lot easier to get out of bud knowing there is a cup waiting for me.

FIVE. Drink 64 oz of water

At first, this was really hard for me. I actually realized how little water I was drinking every day when I challenged myself to drink more. I used to read about all the benefits of drinking this much water every day and be skeptical. But it’s true! I’ve noticed a night and day difference in so many ways. So now, I keep a jug of water on the counter and challenge myself to drink the whole thing by the end of the day.

I’m trying to drink a lot more water too – and it is hard. I don’t think I get 64oz every day (I know I don’t) but it’s definitely #goalz.
