Here are our recommendations for what you should read, eat (or drink) and watch. This is the mid-summer edition … and we’d love to hear what’s on your radar too.
✤ Tanya … As usual, I’m picking a book that I read recently and so I HIGHLY encourage you to read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, Gail Honeyman. This book is an EXCELLENT character focused novel, and Eleanor Oliphant is quite a character. You will feel all the feelings because this book is funny and silly yet sad and sombre.
✤ Kim … Dread Nation, Justina Ireland was so much fun! I haven’t read a historical fiction book in so long and I hadn’t realized how much I missed them. Dread Nation is not your typical historical fiction book though. It’s got a zombie twist with the dead rising up during the battle of Gettysburg!
Eat … or Drink
✤ Tanya … All the green smoothies. This is my most frequent go to breakfast these summer mornings. I change up the ingredients but they all must have hemp milk, chia seeds and spinach.
✤ Kim … All the veggies. The garden is kicking this year! We built raised beds and we are in the process of learning what is going to work for us in the future. So far we’ve had a couple of frustrating fails (squash bugs & bindweed problems) but overall, we’re really enjoying the fruits of our labors. It won’t be long now before the pears and peaches are ready from our tree too!
✤ Tanya … I finally saw season 1 of Big Little Lies and it captured the suspense and drama of the book (written by Liane Moriarty). Big Little Lies was one of my favorite books of the year when I read it, and the tv series adaptation really did it justice – so I can’t say whether the book or tv show was better. They are both awesome!
✤ Kim … The last two movies I saw were Deadpool (hubs choice and I actually liked) and Black Panther (so incredibly good.)
We would love to hear your recommendation of something to read, eat or watch this month!
