Here’s a look at some interesting things we found / saw / thought / did this week. Kim …
- Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series is finally coming to the big screen. Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey have signed on. This is going to be so good!
- I love Rachel’s list of time travel books. If you’re looking for a March Monthly Motif Take A Trip read, one of these would fit the bill nicely.
- Bloggiesta is coming up March 21-27 and they’re looking for handy helpers to host min-challenges, twitter chats etc.
- Filming for Ready Player One is set to start this Spring. I really loved this book. Steven Spielberg is directing this so I think we’re in for a treat.
- I’ve been struggling to find time to get my regular yoga practice in so I really appreciated these tips for how to practice in your everyday life.
- Derek Hough is going to reprise Gene Kelly’s famous role in Singin in the Rain. I can’t wait!
- This week I played around with promoting our blog posts through Instagram. I found Mandy’s tips on editing photos for Instagram to be really helpful.
- With Spring just around the corner I’ve got the garden on my brain. I tried microgreens at the farmer’s market last year and really loved them. I want to try growing my own using these tips.
- We’ll be posting our Spring reading list next week. There are so many good books to choose from. I may have to break away from my usual fantasy and sci fi. after seeing these picks.
- Are you a lister? You might want to give 30 Days of Lists a try. It’s a fun challenge with daily list prompts.
- Simple living is something that I consistently strive for. It’s so easy to get loaded down under stuff, responsibilities, and daily life. I was reminded to let some things go and be more aware of my days after reading a New Perspective on Simple Living.
- Just wow – The World’s Most Beautiful Hand Made bikes. I told my husband that I wanted to try mountain biking this year!
- How to Find or re-Find your passion is spot on. This will be my last year teaching dance. I’ve danced for 30 years and taught for 15 of those. It will always be a passion of mine but I’m excited to explore new passions and passions I love, but haven’t had time for.
- The best history books coming in March had me realizing how much I miss reading history. It was my undergrad major and I loved studying it. Looking forward to making this happen during our Nonfiction November Monthly Motif challenge.
- After reading This Is What Happens When You Purge Your Goodreads TBR, I’m taking up the challenge.
- I appreciated this article as my toddler is currently obsessed with Curious George.
- Yes! Believe it or not, gardening is actually part of my personal healthy living plan.

- Dude, The Month-long Weirdathon Begins & The Achievements. So far, I’ve finished Annihilation, Jeff VanderMeer. What a crazy, weird read and I’m still not sure if I liked it or not. But I’m listening to the 2nd book, Authority, on audio (I’m travelling for work today, so wouldn’t it be nice to finish it by the time I leave the airport in my destination city – Colombia, MO)?!
- Amazon’s Best Books of March is out. I didn’t really see anything that interests me this time around.
- I needed the reminder from Katniss Shows Us That Sometimes Sacrifice Is Necessary
- The previous link is from Nerd Fitness, and here is the founder, Steve Kamb’s Morning Routine
- My reading list grew exponentially after reading An Epic Guide to Books which have characters with Superpowers.
- According to All The Books You Should Read, According To Your Binge TV Preferences since I like X-Files, I should Voices in the Night by Steven Millhauser. I’ve only read his short fiction collection, We Others, which I liked, so I’m on bard with this recommendation.
- Sometimes, its not so straightforward whether you’re “Inspired By” or a “Copycat”
- I might be one of those rare readers who aren’t bothered by book spoilers (in fact, sometimes I seek them out because I just can’t take the suspense)! So yay for How To Forget Book Spoilers
- Check out 8 Ways to Style Links So They Stand Out and 5 Must Have Blog Tools Every Blogger Needs to up your blogging game.
- And just a reminder – How To Measure a Blog’s Success Without The Numbers
- Best computer tip I read this week is How to Back Up Your Computer Automatically with Windows 10’s Built-in Tool
- Saving and managing money better is a top priority for me this year. Traditional budgets don’t work for our family, and now I have no guilt over it after reading The Easiest Budget Ever. (You’ll Be Shocked at its Simplicity!)
- My Life – Highlight from this week – I ran a 5K Race on Saturday – cold, numb feet but I DID IT! It was HARD especially since I’m used to running on the cushiony treadmill because I’m no winter warrior – you will NEVER see me running outside in winter (unless it’s the odd race here or there when I stupidly think it’s not that cold outside because I’ve been inside too long). Coming up next week – I’m in Missouri for work – and get to check out a food plant I haven’t been to yet (I geek out to this kind of stuff), coming back to IL on Friday evening, and I’m signed up for another 5K on Saturday morning.

For some reason I was never really into Curious George as a child, and I felt weirdly bad about it even at the time. Like, it’s an adorable, curious monkey. What’s not to love? I watched some of the shows and read a couple of the books, but it was just never one of my favorite series.

Derek Hough in Singing in the Rain, that sounds good to me, I think he’s such a talented dancer and choreographer. I just planted the seeds in our square foot garden and got some netting on our raspberries and blueberries this past week. I love growing our own fruits and veggies. Yippee, thanks for the reminder about Bloggiesta!
