It’s hard to believe the last time I wrote a monthly favorites was June! Yikes – this year has been flying by! So it’s August now and time to get back to it. In this edition, I’ll be sharing what I’ve been loving, and a few recommendations from friends.

+ Orgain Plant Based Nutritional Shakes (Vanilla Bean). Hi! I’m lactose intolerant and hate chocolate and hate all the powdered protein shakes I’ve tried. So, I’m diving into just spending the damn $$ and buying protein shakes. I love the Orgain “Nutritional” Shake because it has 16 grams of (pea) protein and uses cane sugar (10 grams) – no sugar substitutes. If you’re in the same position as me – get this! The vegan “protein shake” has 20 grams of protein but only comes in a chocolate flavor.

+ Blackfin Model XL Inflatable Standup Paddle Board. When we did stand up paddle boarding over the summer, another couple had this and loved it. They let me borrow it and it’s a dream. They mentioned that they bought it at a steep discount during a Thanksgiving sale. I’m not about storing a huge SUP so this is a great compromise.

+ Body Glove Performer 11′ Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board Package (Costco). This is 1/3rd the cost of the SUP above and comes highly recommended by another friend of mine. He mentioned that with Costco’s return policy as well, he felt much more comfortable buying this one and returning if there were any issues. It’s easy to inflate (with an electric pump), lightweight and just works beautifully. I’m probably going to get this one to use next summer.

+ One Wheel Pint X and GT. Both models have been highly recommended by another friend (they did not recommend the Pint as it doesn’t go very far). Let me get this out of the way – this thing is pricey – so I’m not getting one any time soon. But … he loves it! He lives just about 2 miles from work and rides it in every day. It’s an expensive adult toy but so much fun!!

+ African Pride Moisture Miracle 5 Essential Oils and Moisture Miracle Coconut Oil & Baobab Oil Leave-In Cream. I love the new look of African Pride and have been using both of these products for the last few months – in fact I’ve been using a few different brands but love this the best.

Those are a few things that my friends and I have been using and loving lately.
