#AMonthofFaves Routines, Habits and Changes

Welcome to #AMonthofFaves [The 2018 Edition] hosted by Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge. We have every day of the event (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) planned out for you, so you can join in anytime. Today, it’s all about habits, routines or rituals What worked … and what didn’t.

Habits That Worked

+ Creating a Slow Morning Routine. This year, I tried to remove the rush of the morning and take time to think. It worked out splendidly and helped me be more relaxed and accommodating throughout the day – as opposed to being easily frustrated. My wake-up time is what I really need to work on, but I totally live by having small moments to myself in the mornings. I’m pretty much a morning person and this is why.

Habits That Didn’t Work

+ Using the 2018 Artist of Life Workbook or any planner to track my goals throughout the year. This method just doesn’t work for me – not the fault of the Workbook … it just sat unused in my desk all year. Which is also probably why I didn’t really lock in on my goals and focus like I should have.

Hacks That I Tried … and Worked

+ From 53 Seriously Life Changing Hacks – Store your flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillow cases in one pillow case from the set. Problem solved! No more lost / can’t find pillow cases.

Sheet Set Organization

+ From Organizing Christmas, I got the idea to store Christmas decorations in a see-through plastic container. For ornaments, every color goes in it’s own bin – all reds go together, all the white ornaments and all the gold. The other stuff – the containers get a label … although they are also organized – like all stuffed animals, Christmas village etc. This was such a TIME SAVER last Christmas. I didn’t worry about putting (most) ornaments back in the original container … just dropped them in the bins. And this Christmas – it’s easier to see what I have on hand (I’ll spare you just how many containers of decorations there are … there’s a LOT).

+ It’s been a few years since I was clued in to this – but changing to flannel sheets in the Winter is seriously THE BEST. It’s so warm and toasty to sleep under … if you don’t do this and you live in an Arctic tundra like the Mid-West … you better get on this!

Slow mornings are really the best. My mom does something similar with the bedsheet +pillow covers to keep them from getting lost.

I need to get in on this flannel sheet business.
Also, I have a slow morning routine–not by choice–but I definitely prefer it now. I’m glad your is working for you 😀

  4. Slow routines are always good, especially to start the day. I don’t work until later in the afternoon most days. I need to do this too.

Flannel sheets are the best, totally agreed.

LOVE the idea of storing the sheets and pillowcases inside one of the pillowcases. That is sheer brilliance.

My planner use fell by the wayside this year too 🙁 I really need to get back into that habit in 2019.

And I LOVE my flannel sheets in winter — I would freeze without them.

  7. Planners/workbooks never work out for me, either, even though I would love to use one! That sheet set trick is great, I’ll have to try it!

  8. Wow…your closet looks terrific.

My morning is pretty routine too.

Another great question. I enjoyed answering it.

You can find my answer on my blog.
